The Sanctuary Project

Would any of you be interested in getting to hear a powerful sermon about the sanctuary and getting to help the spread of the gospel at the same time?

I know a way you can. :-)

Let me tell you about my summer project, and then I'll tell you how you can help.

I have become incredibly excited during the last year about the opportunities God is opening up for the spread of the truth of the Bible. Throughout most of the mainstream denominations, there is an awakening interest in the study of the Mosaic Sanctuary. Messiah's Mansion has experienced increasing numbers of pastors who will bring their entire congregations to tour the life-size sanctuary and tell of how they have been studying it at church and are finding biblical truths they never knew existed. Clayton Leinnewebber tells the stories and describes how prophecy predicted this interest better than me.. you'll be blown away, go listen! :-) Worldwide, people are beginning to open their bibles and trying to understand the symbols and types that will lead them to the end time message. And the sanctuary naturally leads to every doctrine and truth that the Adventist church holds dear...indeed, the pioneers originally found those very truths through an in-depth study of the sanctuary. Is it just me, or does it seem like this is an incredible opportunity for Adventists to get on the ball and reach people where they're at through presenting the sanctuary??

Unfortunately, there are comparatively very few Adventist materials available for studying the sanctuary in depth. And surprisingly, evangelistic series often focus in on the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation while merely touching on the topic of the sanctuary in passing. Don't get me wrong, I wholeheartedly support any and every attempt to preach the truth of the Word!! Prophecy evangelistic series are clearly a very effective means of presenting the Adventist truth, as evidenced by the thousands and thousands of people who are baptized as a result of attending these meetings or going through bible study guides... But surely we also need to meet those people who are studying the sanctuary, and may not be readily interested in prophecy or see how it relates to the sanctuary.

So you can imagine, I about popped out of my skin when I discovered that God had already prepared a complete evangelistic series entirely from the perspective of the sanctuary!! Literally...God prepared it...that's a whole 'nother story, remind me to tell it sometime.
Unfortunately, this series wasn't in a format that it could be easily shared and presented by large numbers of laymen around the world. So that's where you and I come in. By God's grace, this time next year this series will be available on the shelves of your local ABC (and many other places!) so that you, or your pastor, or the kid at church that wants to go on a mission trip, or the lady who wants to have an in-home bible study group in her home can tell a waiting world the truth they're longing to hear.

For some interesting reading, check out Jennifer Shwirzer's article about using the sanctuary to reach the postmodern mind. Crazy stuff!

Interested in helping?? Here's what you can do:
  • First of all, the very best way that you can help is to pray. This entire project needs to be completely bathed in prayer. Anything that we may do is meaningless without committing it to the Lord in prayer.
  • Secondly, The sermons at this point are audio recordings. They need to be turned into sermon scripts that can be easily preached by anyone. I need people who are willing to listen to the sermon and transcribe it word for word into a word processor (like Microsoft Word) so that we can edit it and turn it into a sermon script. One sermon should only take 2-3 hours of time to transcribe, so it's not a huge time commitment. There are only 20 sermons left to do so even if just a few volunteers were willing to do a couple sermons it would be done in no time.

Want to help? Drop a comment, or shoot me an email at livinghigher@gmail.com to let me know how many sermons you want to do and I'll send them right over to you. Thank you!

And thank you to all of you who have already helped with critiquing the graphic designs. And for all your awesome guesses about the white linen. Thanks to you all it looks much whiter now! :-)

Edit: A couple things I forgot to mention: The deadline for the finished sermons is July 17. And we are also hoping to get these translated into other languages, so if you have the gift of tongues and would be willing to help out later with the translation process that would be amazing. :-) Praise God, 3 sermons are already spoken for, 17 still up for grabs!
